Referrals, without the awkward ask
We shipped a built-in referral program so the people who already love Cal.com have a first-class way to bring others along.
The best scheduling tool is the one your team already uses. That's not a marketing line — it's an observation. Over and over, we saw new signups arrive because someone dropped a Cal.com link in a Slack channel, pasted it into an email signature, or said "just use my booking page" one too many times. Word of mouth was doing real work. It deserved real infrastructure.
So we built one: a referral program with a share link you can hand out anywhere. Refer a Friend
Why a link, not a campaign
We considered heavier machinery — codes, tiered rewards, campaign dashboards. We didn't ship that. What we shipped is a single shareable referral link that invites others to Cal.com. Refer a Friend The reason is boring and correct: the friction in referrals is almost never the reward structure. It's the moment where someone wants to recommend you and has to stop, think about how, and lose momentum. A link solves that. A link fits in a DM, a tweet, a footer, a conference badge.
We'd rather do the simple thing well and learn from how people actually use it than pre-optimize a system nobody asked for.
Who this is for
Mostly: the users who were already referring people, unpaid and unprompted. Consultants who send booking links to every new lead. Ops folks who've rolled Cal.com out at three companies in a row. Community organizers whose entire event stack runs on scheduling. This gives them a way to be credited for something they were doing anyway.
It's also for us. Attribution has always been fuzzy — we'd hear "my friend told me about you" in onboarding calls and have no way to close the loop. Now we can.
What's next
This is a launch, not a finish line. We're watching how the link gets used, where it gets shared, and what people wish it did next. Rewards, team-level referrals, and better attribution surfaces are all on the table — but only if the data tells us they matter. For now: grab your link, send it to someone who'd get value out of Cal.com, and thank you for the ones you've already sent.
